Just
having a website is not usually enough - you need
to do your bit to make it work. If
you assume that once a website is designed and up
and running it will automatically become number one
in search engines and make you rich overnight, you're
deluding yourself.
Here
are just a few tips to web success.
-
Make
sure your website is optimized for your chosen keywords/phrases
(choose the most appropriate phrases and get those
in your website)
- Don't
overdo keywords/phrases. Repeating keywords over and
over will be seen as spam by the search engines. This
will probably do more harm than good.
- One
important way for the search engines to rank your
site even higher is to exchange links with other similar
websites. Google, etc, rate websites as more important
if it finds more links directed at your site. These
should be websites related to your own site content.
- Get
the word about. Don't just rely on your web efforts
to get traffics. Tell people about your site. Get
referrals. Put your web address on all stationery,
on all offline advertising, business cards - everything.
- Email
marketing. Collect email addresses by offering an
opt-in newsletter. Keep visitors coming back by sending
regular newsletters.
- Summary.
To sum up, you can't expect a website to succeed if
you're not active in it's success. Do nothing and
you get nothing.
